Success runs on your innovation engine. One of the most statistically significant predictors of strong market value is the percentage of new products less than 3 years old in a company’s current revenue mix. Companies that can effectively bring highly differentiated new products to market experience higher profit margins, greater market share, and better returns.

The difficult part of this process is maintaining sufficient innovation to support the growth engine. It takes thousands of ideas to find a few gems. The Innovator Enterprise Management System can be configured with a set of innovation modules that help facilitate this process more effectively. Each module contains templates to capture the most common innovations (new-to-world, new-to-company, etc.), as well as the mechanisms for handling thousands of raw ideas through a hierarchical review process that finds the most promising breakthroughs. Routing begins at the “Innovator” level and proceeds through Experts to various Review Committees. Along the way, innovations are benchmarked against appropriate analysis questions. E-mail messaging (as opposed to tasks) increases collaboration and communication.

Managing Intellectual Assets. Identifying ideas is not enough. You must manage your IP to create maximum value. Your invention process is a critical factor in your competitive position. To facilitate faster throughput, the interplay between business, legal, and technical groups, and provide better “kill” decisions, Innovator can now be configured to manage this process. The software includes the appropriate forms, such as invention disclosure, to capture relevant information such as external disclosures, co-inventors, and relevant dates. In addition, IP-specific analysis question sets benchmark your potential IP against your organization’s criteria and impart consistency in your decision-making process. To facilitate accountability, an automatic IP-specific workflow process routes potential IP to any number of various Portfolio Managers, IP Attorneys, Patent Agents, and Reviewers. It documents where the IP is in the process, idle time, and next steps. Ancillary procedures such as IP activity monitoring, e-signature witnessing, confidentiality marking, and security levels further complete the robustness of this configuration module.
